SriLanka, Sept. 29 -- Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe remanded a former Transport Manager at the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE/Sathosa), Indika Hemal Rathna Malala, until October 7 after he was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) over the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 1.7 million belonging to the Consumer Cooperative Development Board.

Police informed court the suspect was arrested under the Offences Against Public Property Act for the alleged misappropriation of money allocated from the Cooperative Development Fund for the Isuru Saviya event held in 2011 to mark the centenary of the cooperative movement in Sri Lanka.
