Former CM Shan remanded in 2019 bribery case
Sri Lanka, June 11 -- Former Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva was remanded until June 12 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
He was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) yesterday in connection with an incident that allegedly took place in 2019.
He had been arrested over alleged irregularities in the use of Rs. 16.5 million allocated to Southern Provincial Council members' development fund in 2019, for the procurement of chairs for public voluntary associations in the Southern Province.
