SriLanka, Sept. 28 -- The "National Regulatory Conference on Food Safety," organized by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) under the guidance of the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, was held on September 23, 2026, at Water's Edge, Battaramulla.

The central theme of the discussion was a "Regulator-owned, SLAB-enabled" model aimed at integrating the currently fragmented food safety system. The event was attended by the Minister in charge of the subject, Wasantha Samarasinghe; Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, Secretary to the Ministry of Trade, K. A. Vimalenthiraraja; other government officials; and representatives from the country's leading food regulatory agencies.
