Five percent rise in container transport charges
Sri Lanka, June 2 -- Container transport charges will be increased by five percent.
President of the Container Transport Vehicle Owners' Association Sanath Manjula told a press conference yesterday that following recent fuel price revisions, the price of diesel has risen by approximately 25 rupees.
He said because the prices of imported goods have also significantly increased alongside this, the tariff hike was brought into effect starting yesterday.
Manjula also mentioned that the decision to revise rates was taken due to rising maintenance costs and the increased prices of essentials for the transport industry, including lubricants, tires, and vehicle spare parts.
