Sri Lanka, July 21 -- Five people have died after a fire broke out at a helmet manufacturing factory in the Katuwana Industrial Zone, Homagama, this morning (21), police said.

Police Media Spokesperson said five bodies were recovered from the factory after the blaze was brought under control.

The fire had caused thick black smoke to spread across the area, according to residents.

Firefighting units from the Kotte Municipal Council were deployed to control the blaze, while police and emergency teams responded to the incident.

Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
