Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- The first coal shipment for the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai for the second quarter of the year has reached Puttalam with unloading set to commence yesterday evening after quality assurance tests by the relevant agencies.

Energy, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Aruna Karunathilake visited the power station yesterday to review the coal supply situation and inspect operations at the plant.

Following the inspection, the Minister said the power station has adequate coal stocks to maintain electricity generation for the next few days until the newly arrived consignment is unloaded.
