Sri Lanka, March 4 -- The first 'World Congress on Snakes' is scheduled to be held in Kandy in October with the participation of experts in the field from around the globe.Reptiles & Amphibians

An international congress on reptiles and amphibians is organised every four years, but no international snake conference has been held so far, an expert in the field Dr. Nimal Ratnayake said.

He revealed this at a media briefing held at the Grand Kandyan Hotel in Kandy on Monday. Ratnayake said that about 350 internationally recognised experts, researchers and policymakers on snakes are scheduled to participate. He emphasised that it is a unique opportunity to hold such an international conference in Kandy, away from Colombo.
