Sri Lanka, March 16 -- Farmers have been granted permission to obtain fuel without a QR code, according to the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development.

The Department of Agrarian Development stated that 15 litres of fuel per acre will be provided for harvesting paddy, while 20 litres per acre will be allocated for ploughing fields.

Meanwhile, the Energy Ministry announced that the QR code system for vehicles was reintroduced for fuel distribution from yesterday (15).

Issuing a statement, the ministry said the decision was taken due to disruptions in the petroleum product supply chain caused by the prevailing geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
