Sri Lanka, March 13 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places in parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. today (13), the Department of Meteorology announced.

According to the department, the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts are likely to experience showers or thundershowers during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

A few showers may also occur in the Uva and Eastern provinces, while mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere across the island.
