Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The Department of Meteorology says the south-west monsoon has now been established over Sri Lanka, with prevailing showery conditions expected to continue across the south-western parts of the island today (27).

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m.
