Srilanka, Aug. 1 -- Media and Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday said that the people will ultimately benefit by the extension of retirement age of judges as such initiative will help clear the backlog of cases.

Dr.Jayatissa added that the proposed extension of retirement age of judges is aimed at retaining experienced judges and expediting the disposal of cases by reducing the backlog in Courts.

"People have given mandate to the Government through two elections to address the backlog of Court cases. "We are working in compliance with the public mandate," he said.
