Export sector records 12% growth in June despite external shocks
Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe stated that despite a slight increase in the US dollar exchange rate due to external shocks, the export sector recorded a 12 percent growth in June.
He further noted that despite impacts from several factors including the Middle East war, the export sector has grown by 8 percent so far this year, while direct remittances have increased by 20 percent.
Speaking to the media during an inspection tour of the Pallekele Industrial Zone, belonging to the Industrial Development Board, Deputy Minister Abeysinghe added:
