Sri Lanka, June 12 -- A technical expert committee has been appointed under the chairmanship of Supreme Court Judge Yasantha Kodagoda, PC to examine and submit a report on the introduction of a new law to establish a Public Prosecutor's Office by the Government, Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara informed Parliament.

He also stated that discussions are underway regarding the powers of the Attorney General (AG) and the powers of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Minister stated that the delays in the Attorney General's Department are not due to the Attorney General's fault, but rather due to the lack of human and technical resources.
