Sri Lanka, March 20 -- Leader of the House and Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that excavations at the Chemmani mass grave will resume on April 20, following a question raised by an MP from the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi.
He noted that since the NPP government came to power, 239 bodies have been recovered from Chemmani over the past 17 months. Highlighting the gravity of the crimes, Minister Rathnayake said these killings occurred more than 30 years ago.
He also emphasized that the NPP government is committed to continuing these investigations and will not abandon them, carrying out its mandate to ensure justice for the victims.
