EU, Lanka bilateral trade reach approx. Euro 3.9 Bn in 2025
Sri Lanka, June 25 -- The European Union stands as Sri Lanka's second-largest trade partner, with bilateral two-way trade in goods reaching approximately 3.9 billion Euros in 2025, while total trading services accounted for 1.9 billion Euros in 2024.
The EU market continues to provide significant opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters, particularly through a generalised system of references, such as the GST-class scheme, said Somasena Mahadiulwewa, Director General of Commerce(Actg) addressing the Belgolux Economic Forum held in Colombo recently.
"This enduring partnership has contributed substantially to Sri Lanka's economic development as well as the integration into the global economy," he said.
