Sri Lanka, April 1 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) launched a countrywide token strike yesterday (31), causing severe hardship to patients throughout the estate sector.
The GMOA organised the trade union action to protest against the Health Ministry, alleging that the Ministry is transferring doctors in an arbitrary manner.
Hospital staff were forced to provide alternative dates for patients who had arrived at estate hospitals for scheduled clinic activities, as medical services remained disrupted.
