Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- The proposed Lower Malwathu Oya reservoir project is presently under rapid construction on the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The President has taken steps to release adequate funds to speed up the proposed Lower Malwathu Oya Multi-Sector Development Project's (LMMSDP) construction work, which was originally conceptualised in the 1950s with a technical feasibility study executed by a team of engineers of the then Soviet Union and following decades of unjustifiable delays, Housing, Construction and Water Supply Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe said.

He was speaking at a recent meeting at the Anuradhapura District Secretariat auditorium for evaluating the construction progress of the LMMSDP.
