Sri Lanka, April 17 -- Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody has tendered his resignation from office with immediate effect, citing the need to ensure an independent and unbiased investigation into allegations related to coal imports.
In his resignation letter addressed to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Jayakody welcomed the government's decision to appoint a Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry and the filing of a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to probe coal import transactions dating back to 2009.
