Sri Lanka, June 5 -- The death toll from the fire that broke out at an elders' home in Anguruwatota has risen to 13 after another victim receiving treatment in hospital succumbed to injuries, according to Sri Lanka Police.

Five others who sustained serious injuries remain under treatment at the Horana Base Hospital.

A magistrate's inquiry into the incident was conducted by Horana Magistrate Lakmini Vidanagamage, while the director of the elders' home has been remanded until June 11.

Police said 71 residents were at the facility when the fire occurred on June 3, claiming the lives of 10 people at the scene. Survivors have since been relocated to another branch of the same care institution in Galpatha with the assistance of the Sri Lanka...
