Sri Lanka, July 27 -- The Director General of the Department of Meteorology, Mr. Ajith Wijemannage, states that the El Nino condition could reach its peak between August and December.

He noted that the current El Nino condition has developed from a weak to a moderate level, and it could potentially intensify into a very strong condition between October and December.

The Director General also stated that this situation is expected to gradually subside during the first quarter of next year.

Furthermore, he added that during the peak El Nino period, there is a possibility of above-average rainfall in many areas during the months of October, November, and December.
