Sri Lanka, Nov. 7 -- The Election Commission (EC) has informed the factions of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), that the party cannot be currently considered as a formally recognised political party due to internal disputes.

The EC stated yesterday (6) that several factions of the party had been summoned before the Commission yesterday (6) and questioned regarding the matter.

Those present at the EC for questioning included MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Duminda Dissanayake.
