Sri Lanka, March 27 -- Dushyanth Weeraman has been restrained from performing the song "Nelum Wilen Pana" after the Colombo Commercial High Court found that he had been performing it as his own without obtaining permission from the creator. The enjoining order was issued today(27).
The lawsuit was filed by musician Ravihans Wetakepotha, who composed the melody and arranged the music for the song.
After considering the submissions, Commercial High Court Judge Amali Ranaweera issued the enjoining order preventing Weeraman from performing the song. The court also prohibited the distribution or sharing of the song with any third party without the written consent of the plaintiff.
