Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Katunayake Police stated that the constable, who sustained gunshot injuries to his leg, was admitted to the Negombo District General Hospital. Police stated that the injured officer is attached to the Katunayake Police Station.

Two traffic Police officers on a motorcycle patrol in the Dewamottawa area in Adiambalama spotted a man searching a spot where drugs were hidden and attempted to arrest him. The drug addict began struggling with the two officers. Seeing this, a local resident alerted a nearby group of Police officers deployed on roadblock duty.
