Sri Lanka, July 14 -- The Divulapitiya Police have arrested nine suspects, including the Mirigama coconut development officer, in connection with the illegal sale of 400 fifty-kilogramme bags of coconut fertiliser. The fertiliser had been brought to Mirigama to be distributed to local coconut estates under government subsidies, but was secretly sold to a fertiliser sales centre in Marandagahamula.

Acting on a tip-off that a stock of Government-owned fertiliser had been brought to a warehouse in Marandagahamula, the Divulapitiya Police conducted a raid recently and found 348 bags of such fertiliser.
