Sri Lanka, July 21 -- Officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) left the island for Australia yesterday (20) to investigate and trace suspects in the case relating to an alleged bribe of USD 2 million from a European Airline during the acquisition process of a 10-aircraft fleet for SriLankan Airlines in 2013.

Sources said they will be assisted by Interpol. Bribery Commission sources revealed statements are scheduled to be recorded from W. D. Nimal Perera, a resident of Australia who is said to be an owner of a bank account into which these bribe funds were allegedly transferred.
