Sri Lanka, June 29 -- The battle against dengue in Sri Lanka has hit a critical juncture in 2026 and according to the latest surveillance data captured up to the midnight of June 27, 2026, the country has crossed a sobering milestone, recording a total of 52,068 dengue cases since the start of the year.

The year started with a noticeable caseload in January, tracking at 7,866 cases.

As the first quarter progressed, the numbers saw a steady but manageable decline, hovering between 5,700 and 6,000 cases monthly from February through April. May experienced a modest climb to 8,590 cases.
