Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- The Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE), one of the country's oldest state corporations, is being revived, with new appointments to its top leadership handed over on Monday (19) at the Ministry of Trade.

The Chief Executive Officer and several senior officers, selected through a recruitment process the government described as transparent and free of political interference, received their letters of appointment at the event. Candidates were chosen through interviews.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe and Ministry officials. CWE Chairman Kosala Wilbawa and several of the institution's officials and staff were also present. ...
