Customs surpasses Rs. 2 trillion in tax revenue as of September 15

Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Sri Lanka Customs has already surpassed Rs. 2 trillion in tax revenue as of September 15, Customs Spokesman Chandana Punchihewa said, against a full-year revenue target of Rs. 2,207 billion set for the department for 2026.South Asians & Diaspora

Last year, Customs collected a record Rs. 2,551 billion in revenue, exceeding its revised target of Rs. 2,241 billion for the year and marking a 64.2 percent increase over the previous year's revenue of Rs. 1,553 billion.

Official data also shows that Customs has exceeded its monthly revenue targets for the first eight months of the year. It also shows that over the past two weeks alone, the department has collected more than Rs. 191 billion in tax revenue.
