Court asked to prevent alleged subletting of disputed property
Sri Lanka, June 16 -- The District Court of Mount Lavinia has been requested to issue an enjoining order preventing a defendant from subletting a disputed property in Dehiwala. It follows allegations that portions of the premises have been unlawfully rented to third parties.
Attorney-at-Law Roshanara Fernando, appearing for the plaintiff, told Court that her client had been occupying approximately 13.5 perches of land for many years. She submitted that the defendant's mother had originally been granted only 1.1 perches under a lease and licence arrangement and that the licence had subsequently been terminated.
