Sri Lanka, July 9 -- Several individuals and organisations, including leading monks, have moved the Court of Appeal seeking permission to intervene in the writ application filed by the former State Intelligence Service Director Major General Suresh Salley, who is challenging the legality of his arrest and detention.

The intervenient-petitioners are Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, Ven.Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Ven.Dapane Sumanawansha Thera, Ven.Dimbulagala Rahulalankara Thera and the Global Sri Lankan Forum. Through their petitions, they are seeking to be added as Party Respondents in the pending writ proceedings.
