SriLanka, Sept. 24 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament that the incumbent government and the President will go down in history as the destroyers of democracy and stated that the country's system is changing from democracy to dictatorship.

Addressing the House yesterday (23), he said that the government came to power claiming to create a social contract with the people and change the system and the 22nd constitutional amendment is a change in the system through which the Executive has turned the country's judiciary into a slave and obedient disciple,destroyed democracy and influenced the independence of the judiciary, destroyed the trust in honourable judges and destroyed the rule of law.
