Sri Lanka, July 11 -- Education Deputy Minister Dr. Madura Seneviratne yesterday confirmed in Parliament that trained student counsellors and career guidance teachers will be appointed in all schools. This initiative is part of a newly approved multi-sectoral mechanism designed to safeguard children, support career pathways, and proactively tackle psychological distress, mental fatigue, and rising student suicide rates.

Under this, dedicated guidance to students from Grade 6 onwards will be provided aiming to help students choose suitable paths and reduce parental or peer pressure.
