Sri Lanka, March 13 -- Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Chairman Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera confirmed that no damage occurred to the machinery at the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai from the recently imported coal. The plant is operating properly despite a slight decrease in power generation.
However, he stated that this is not a problem in terms of the country's energy needs at this time, and as the power plant has the required amount of coal in stock, he requests the public not to be misled by the rumours until an investigation is completed into this matter. He expressed these views during an onsite inspection of the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai by the COPE recently.
