Construction sector expansion strengthens in July
Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- Sri Lanka's construction sector continued to expand in July 2026, with activity rising at a faster pace amid a steady flow of new projects, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).Reserve Island Resorts
The Construction Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), measured by the Total Activity Index, increased to 61.4 in July from 60.0 in June, signalling a stronger month-on-month expansion in construction activity.
The CBSL said many survey respondents reported that construction work remained steady despite input constraints, particularly shortages of bitumen.
