Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- The Committee appointed to update the rules, regulations, and standing orders under the Prisons Ordinance in its interim report submitted to the President has recommended to amend the Prison Standing Order 356 by adding a subsection 356(a) and to issue an interim directive to amend Departmental Order 550.

Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara yesterday said that the Interim Report of the Committee has already been forwarded to the Acting Commissioner General of Prisons and has instructed him to amend the existing Standing Orders in accordance with the recommendations outlined in the report.
