Sri Lanka, July 14 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has so far recorded statements from more than 150 individuals, including Negombo Prison inmates, in its ongoing probe into the recent clash at that prison that killed 28 persons, including eight prison officials, and injured over 100 prison officials and inmates.

Police stated yesterday (13) that the CID immediately commenced investigations into the riot after the Prisons Department filed a complaint with the CID, requesting it to conduct a separate probe. Also, the Prisons Department made an announcement yesterday that court proceedings regarding the riot commenced yesterday.
