Sri Lanka, June 26 -- A suspect believed to have acted as a gunman for an organised crime figure has been arrested upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport after being deported from Malaysia, police said.

The arrest was made by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department last night (25), following his arrival in Sri Lanka. He is reported to have been taken into custody after Malaysian authorities deported him after prior arrest in that country.

The suspect has been identified as a 41-year-old resident of the Kotugoda area. Police said he is also wanted under an international Red Notice.
