CIABOC sees 51 convicted in Courts in first four months
Sri Lanka, June 12 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said 51 individuals have been convicted by Courts in cases filed by the Commission during the four-month period from January to April.
The Commission said it is notable that 41 out of those convicted are public officials.
Among the 51 individuals found guilty by the Courts, three were convicted by the Colombo Magistrate's Court, while the remaining 48 were convicted by the Colombo High Court.
According to data published on the Commission's official website, 2,686 complaints were lodged with the Commission during the period and 501 complaints were formally ordered for investigation. Also, 48 raids were carried out and 32 suspects were taken...
