SriLanka, Sept. 30 -- China's Sichuan University has agreed to provide financial and technical support for research and development in Sri Lanka's tourism sector, while also offering tourism education scholarships and future student exchange opportunities for Sri Lankan students, the Tourism Ministry said.

The agreement was reached during discussions between Sri Lanka's Deputy Tourism Minister Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe and officials of Sichuan University during his visit to Chengdu, China.

Prof. Ranasinghe participated as one of the primary special guests of honour at the 130th anniversary celebrations of Sichuan University and the inaugural Hengduan Mountain Forum hosted by the university.
