China grant for reconstruction of 14 bridges damaged by cyclone

Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- The Government has approved a proposal to accept a financial grant of 79 million Renminbi (Yuan) from China to reconstruct 14 bridges damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday (25).Government

The bridges span the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western, North Central and Eastern Provinces.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet press briefing yesterday (25), he further said that the project is to be implemented in two stages, with the first stage involving the reconstruction of nine bridges within 18 months. The remaining bridges are expected to be reconstructed under the second stage.
