Sri Lanka, April 27 -- The Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala, Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter said he appreciates the initiative taken by Ven. Pannakara Thera and the Maha Sangha to carry the message of peace to the world by engaging in a 'Global Walk for Peace'.

The Mahanayake emphasised that spreading the message of peace centred on the Buddha's teachings of compassion, kindness, and loving-kindness has become a vital necessity in the current global context.

The Mahanayake said this when Ven. Pannakara Thera and the Maha Sangha who are currently on a 'Global Walk for Peace', visited the Malwatte Maha Viharaya to receive blessings.

The Mahanayake Thera further said all intellectuals in the world value peace.
