SriLanka, Sept. 22 -- Sri Lanka's Lahiru Chandrabandara advanced to the men's 70kg light middleweight round of 16 with a strong 4-1 victory over Yemen's Saeed Mustafa at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan yesterday.

The 35-year-old Lankan boxer controlled the preliminary bout and earned the support of four judges to secure his place in the pre-quarter-final.

Chandrabandara is a former student of St. Sylvester's College, Kandy, and represents the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club. He is also a national boxing champion and one of Sri Lanka's most experienced fighters at the Games.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Rukmal Prasanna will enter the ring today (Tuesday) for his men's 55kg Bantamweight preliminary-round bout against Iraq's Abbas Hamban...
