Central Bank warns public against plantation investment scams
Sri Lanka, June 16 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued a strong warning to the public against fraudulent schemes that solicit money under the guise of investments in agriculture and plantation projects, urging people to exercise extreme caution before parting with their hard-earned money.
CBSL Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe said that with the economy gradually stabilising, various unscrupulous operators have intensified efforts to attract investors through misleading promises of extraordinary returns from agricultural ventures.
