Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has urged the public and media to provide information on individuals and entities engaged in illegal financial and deposit-taking schemes, warning that accepting deposits from the public without a licence is a criminal offence.
CBSL Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said the Central Bank is conducting special investigations into illegal financial investments, deposit-taking disguised as business activities and other unlawful financial transactions.
