Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said the staff-level agreement on Sri Lanka's ongoing IMF programme is expected to be reached "very soon", with the Government having already completed substantial work required for the agreement.

Speaking at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) headquarters yesterday, Dr. Weerasinghe said delays had been caused by technical and analytical work on certain aspects of the programme.

"I would expect the staff-level agreement to be reached very soon. It won't take much longer," he said. He also said Sri Lanka is expected to receive the relevant IMF disbursement by the end of this year, upon completion of the programme requirements.
