SriLanka, Sept. 29 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the continuation of the Grade 1 education reforms introduced in 2026 and the commencement of education reforms for Grades 2 and 6 from 2027.

The decision was taken based on the Concept Paper on "Transformational Change in General Education in Sri Lanka" formulated by the National Education Commission, the revised National Curriculum Framework approved by the National Steering Committee for New Education Reforms, and the newly formulated School-Based Assessment guidelines.

The new National Curriculum Framework was initially formulated by the National Institute of Education in 2019 and received Cabinet approval in March 2023.
