Sri Lanka, April 28 -- The Court of Appeal (CA) yesterday signalled strong concern over the worsening human-elephant conflict, calling for urgent and decisive action from authorities to address the issue.
Presiding over the matter, Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysuriya stressed that the Wildlife Conservation Department must act without delay to curb the crisis. He drew particular attention to the widespread use of illegal electric fences, observing that proper regulation, including setting permissible voltage limits, remains a critical gap.
