BOI highlights workers' role in driving Sri Lanka's Export Economy
Sri Lanka, May 22 -- The contribution made by employees working in Sri Lanka's export processing zones towards strengthening the national economy was highlighted at the inauguration of the "Abdeen Child Day Care Center and Study Centre" in the Katunayake Export Processing Zone.
Speaking at the event, Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), Renuka Weerakoon said workers employed in investment zones play a vital role in increasing the country's export earnings and supporting economic growth.
She noted that investors and manufacturers operating within the zones not only contribute to industrial development but also continue to support the welfare of employees and their families through social initiatives.
