Batticaloa youth engage MPs in Parliamentary Policy Dialogue
Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- Around 31 young people and 12 Members of Parliament participated in a District-level "Voice to Policy Dialogue" in Batticaloa on August 30, aimed at strengthening direct engagement between Parliament and citizens.
The programme was organised under the Parliamentary Caucus for Open Parliament Initiative.
"Young people should not have to wait until an election to make their voices heard. They should have avenues to raise concerns when Policies are being formulated, when Laws are being drafted and when Legislation affecting their lives is being considered by Parliament," the Caucus' Co-Chair MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam commented.
