Sri Lanka, June 11 -- Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena yesterday (10) ordered the immediate arrest and production of former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa in connection with the 2014 alleged misuse of Rs. 7.8 million from the Tourism Promotion Bureau.

The Magistrate made this order after considering a request made by the Criminal Investigation Department citing facts regarding the incident.

The Magistrate, who considered a request that suspect Basil Rajapaksa had gone abroad in 2024 and that a notice be issued to take necessary steps in this regard, informed that if a notice is to be issued internationally, the request must be made through an affidavit.
